It’s ok to say you’re not ok.

We all know how the routine goes.

Person 1: Hi! How are you?
Person 2: Good, how are you?
Person 1: Good, thanks!

Maybe it’s true some of the time. But how often do we really answer the question honestly?

The number of times I’ve answered that question while my mind yells at me “lie! lie! lie!” are more than I can count. But sometimes the truth hurts and sometimes it is uncomfortable for both parties. But I’m trying this new thing where I’m 100% honest about my battles. And sometimes that means I’m not good.

There’s been a lot of ugliness in the world lately. This week has weighed heavier than any in recent memory for so many people. No one can read your mind (and OH MY GOD, if they can, GET AWAY FROM THEM). So if you’re not ok, say it. Don’t just say “I’m fine” and then wonder why know one knows that you’re going through some shit.

It’s ok to say you’re not ok.
